Montserrat Calleja Gómez, co-founder of Mecwins SA, receives the Rei Jaume I Award of New Technology

Montserrat Calleja Gómez has been recognized for her hard work in identifying pathogens through biomolecular markers and nanomechanic sensors

Today, June 6th of 2022, Montserrat Calleja Gómez, co-founder of Mecwins SA, has been granted with an award the “New Technologies” field of the 34th edition of Rei Jaume I Awards.

These prestigious awards, conceded by the Autonomous Community of Valencia and the Valencian Foundation of Advanced Studies, recognize the scientific or business trajectory of those who have reached excellence in their field and have developed most of their professional career in Spain.

Montserrat Calleja Gómez has a Ph.D. in Physics and is currently a Research Professor of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). With this award that she received in the New Technology category, she has been recognized for her hard work identifying pathogens through biomolecular markers & nanomechanic sensors to solve significant challenges like, for example, the detention of early cancer and other infectious diseases or identifying the toleration of some antibiotics.

Montserrat Calleja has a broad trajectory in research, 15 registered patents, 90 indexed articles, and is co-founder of Mecwins SA. She is also the creator of the technology company Nanodreams SL.

One of the most important scientist in the country

Rei Jaume I Awards are Spain’s most important scientific decorations. The prize of 100.000€ for each category comes with an agreement to reinvest in research and entrepreneurship.

This year, 21 Nobel Prize recipients were part of the jury, and six awards were selected from 182 former candidates. Mecwins congratulates Dr. Calleja for her very well-earned recognition of her work.
