Mecwins is pleased to announce its participation in the recent “CSIC Scientific Entrepreneurship Day”, which saw the launch of the first official report on the scientific, social and economic impact of one hundred spin-offs created within the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The meeting also presented a comprehensive catalogue of 78 established spin-offs – including Mecwins – and 32 high-potential projects that aim to become CSIC spin-offs in the near future.
The event closed with remarks by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, and a keynote speech by CSIC President Dr. Eloísa del Pino. Both highlighted the central role of scientific entrepreneurship in strengthening Spain’s innovation ecosystem. Figures published in the report show that 28.21% of these spin-offs are led by women, exceeding both the national and European averages.
As part of the program, Prof. Montserrat Calleja, researcher at the IMN-CSIC and co-founder of Mecwins, participated in the round table ”Challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurship in the CSIC”. Drawing on her experience as a scientist and entrepreneur, Prof. Calleja highlighted how ideas born in research labs can become real-world solutions with significant societal impact.
At Mecwins, we believe in the power of translating cutting-edge research into transformative technological solutions. We would like to thank CSIC for hosting this milestone event, which fostered collaboration between scientists, policy makers and industry representatives. We remain committed to fostering scientific entrepreneurship, contributing to economic growth and ultimately improving people’s lives through innovation.
